You’re planning your wedding – congratulations! We’d be delighted to welcome your big day at any of our three churches.

Planning for a wedding usually starts a year or so in advance, to make sure our church diary is free for you.

We invite you to come and talk through the practicalities at one of our CONTACT sessions. These are on alternate Saturdays between 1100 and 1200 at St Marks with breaks for holiday seasons.

Please contact the office to book a slot, and when you do we will email you about what paperwork to bring. We look forward to helping plan your wedding!

Baptisms

It’s great that you’re thinking about baptism. In baptism the church welcomes those who want to follow Jesus.

We baptise both adults and children from our parishes, or those with significant connections to our parishes. We baptise adults in the sea (in summer!) and children in church. Children are baptised in response to the commitment of their parents and Godparents to bring them up as followers of Jesus – adults who are already committed to following Jesus on this journey. The adults declare their own faith in Jesus, and promise to share the joys and struggles of living life Jesus’ way with their children and Godchildren. They promise to pray for and encourage the children to grow into fully committed members of their local church – the band of people following Jesus together. We love the local church because we know we don’t follow Jesus on our own!

If this sounds like something you’d want for yourself or your little one, we’d love to talk it over with you! If you don’t regularly attend a church, why not come to a service and see what it’s like?

Baptism is about joining the family of the church, so come meet us! If you’re not sure what living life Jesus’ way is all about, there’s nothing we enjoy talking about more than who Jesus is, and what following him is all about. A great way to explore all this is to join an Alpha Course.

If you’d like to talk further about baptism, do contact the office to book a slot at one of our Saturday morning CONTACT sessions. These are on alternate Saturdays between 1100 and 1200 at St Marks with breaks for holiday seasons. We can talk through the practicalities there.

Thanksgiving for a new child

For some families, baptism doesn’t sit quite right for where they are at. We get it!

Maybe you feel unsure about making big promises about following Jesus, or maybe you are still exploring the life of faith yourself. Or perhaps your family take a different view of baptism and feel it’s not right for little ones. For all sorts of good reasons, sometimes a thanksgiving service is a better fit.

A thanksgiving service is a great opportunity to welcome a new child into your family, to thank God for this amazing gift, to pray for God’s blessing and protection, and to celebrate with your wider family.

If you’d like to talk more about this, do chat to us after a service, or contact the office to book a slot at one of our Saturday morning CONTACT sessions. These are on alternate Saturdays between 1100 and 1200 at St Marks with breaks for holiday seasons. We can talk through the practicalities there.
